The Dow Jones Industrial Average has soared more than 7,000 points since Wednesday, while the S&P 500 has lost more than 6,000.
However, the news of the Irish stock market’s rebound has been overshadowed by the latest jobs report.
It revealed that the number of jobs created last month was more than three times as high as in January.
This is the highest number of new jobs since November 2010, when the economy was on a recession.
The report shows that in the last quarter of 2018, the number working in Ireland’s private sector grew by more than 5,500.
However the number employed in the public sector grew just 1,400.
The unemployment rate is now 10.7%, down from 11.4% a month earlier.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate in the Northern Ireland region fell to 7.7% from 10.6% last year.
The Irish economy grew by 0.9% in the third quarter of 2019, down from 1.3% in last year’s third quarter.
